I almost died once...

When I would visit Giles County when Jeremy and I were dating, he would drive around showing me different places and telling me stories from his life. Many of those stories began, " I almost died there one time when..." I consider myself an intelligent person, but I suppose I had on my rose colored glassed because the significance of that was completely lost on me. Here we are several years on the other side of the ring exchange, I have only begun to scratch the surface of what it meant, I'm afraid.
Things happen to Jeremy. Alot. Most of the time they don't require ER visits, but they still happen. Let me show you what I'm talking about. (Keep in mind, these are only the things that have happened since we got married. There's a whole nother list from before I was around.)
June 2011 - On our honeymoon, we went snorkeling in Fiji. We got on a boat that took us out past the shelf to see the biggest clams I've ever laid eyes on. We got out and started to search for the clams when the captain realized Jeremy wasn't floating too well. He made him out on a life jacket so he wouldn't drown. It turns out, my hubby doesn't float! Never has been able to. Next, we start heading back to shore as the tide is going out and find ourselves in shallow water along a reef. Jeremy scrapes his leg on the coral. For those of you who haven't done this, it can be pretty serious. It's something that has to be tended to quickly for risk of infection. It is painful, and looked very bad. (Fortunately, the self proclaimed geriatrics we met at the lodge had iodine with them.) Leave it to my husband to get injured across the globe from home.
July 2011 - We came home very late after a visit to Martin bringing my golden retrievers home with us for the first time, and someone had locked us out of the house. (I didn't have a key to the house yet, so I'll give you one guess who locked us out.) Jeremy decided it was a good idea to break into our house so we didn't have to call someone with a spare key at 1am. Long story short, he put his hand through a pane of glass, nicked a vein in his wrist and almost passed out when he saw the blood. I immediately made him sit on the stairs, wrapped his wrist with a sock, and told him to breath while I tried to figure out what to do. Fortunately, after a few minutes the wound clotted and we were able to continue breaking into our house. Just a tip: ALWAYS have a spare key, and NEVER paint your windows shut!
October 2014 - The tree incident. He almost died twice this day. See previous post for the whole story. I can't bring myself to write about it twice. It gives me heart palpitations. I will say this: emergency ortho visit, whip lash, chiropractor, angry pregnant wife. Go check out the ther blog.
Summer 2018 - Jeremy knocked over one of the beehives when he was mowing. He was stung over 30 times. I was in town with the kids when he called me out of breath. He tried to nonchalantly ask about taking Benedryl and I began to panick. I rushed home and began scraping bee stingers from his back and arms.
October 2018 - Jeremy was on the 4-wheeler fixing fence on a steep hill when the 4-wheeler started rolling down the hill with him on it. He was able to step off over the vehicle as something pushed him out of the way and it began to roll, slinging steel posts and fencing supplies on the way.
Maybe I should remind my Tim Taylor want-to-be that "Home Improvement" was cancelled years ago, and we do not need a reality version of the show! Fortunately, since our second child was born, he seems to be a lot more careful. It only took 30 plus years.
Moral of the story...The key to marriage if your spouse is severely accident prone is prayer. Lots and lots and LOTS of prayer.
